Composer, performer, and visual artist, Charlemagne Palestine (New York, 1947) has spent the last forty years creating an extensive body of experimental musical compositions, performances, and visual artworks inhabited by plush animals. From the early 1980s to the mid-1990s, Palestine stopped performing live to focus entirely on his sculptures and multimedia installations. In this interview, the artist talks about his work sgabelliiiii diiii tribùùùù diiii peluchessss (2023–2024), reminding us of the importance of always having a spirit animal by our side.
