Animali Parlanti is a free workshop for adults organized by “Senza Titolo” and led by the artist Lenard Giller, who is featured in the exhibition Post Scriptum. A museum forgotten by heart, with the work action at a distance.
One of the characteristics that distinguishes human from non human animals is their ability to communicate through language, in various forms from the spoken to the written word.
The workshop Animali Parlanti looks at the ways that language characterizes our being in the world. It is through language that humans re-organize all of their cognitive activities, from perception to memory. Paolo Virno refers to language as an organ in and of itself, therefore underlining its vital role for human existence.
During the workshop, participants will be invited to elaborate on how language can be perceived beyond its vital function, as sound frequency or as image sequences, for example. How can we escape language and therefore the narrative structures it relies on, and what can we learn from such an exercise?
To participate in the workshop, you need to send an email to edumacro@senzatitolo.net by November 13, 2024, with the subject “Animali parlanti” attaching a photo/screenshot of a text in a language unknown to you.
