A WORK
Jannis Kounellis. Untitled (12 Horses)
with Giuseppe Garrera
#Agora
A Work is a format of AGORA developed in collaboration with Giuseppe Garrera, in which the musicologist, art historian and collector will analyse philologically an art work of his choice for each meeting.
14 January 1969. Jannis Kounellis exhibits 12 living horses in L’Attico in Rome. People start to describe it as an act of provocation, as a dada gesture, a product of intellectual snobbery, while also finding it revolting and nauseating because of its smell, and its encumbering presence and the risk of getting kicked by a horse.
12 living horses in an exhibition. Is this the artwork? Can they be purchased? But more importantly, what does it all mean?
In his review of the exhibition, Claudio Cintoli argues that the work is, quite simply, about a liberation.
Giuseppe Garrera has been the scientific coordinator of the Master in Economics and Management of Art and Cultural Heritage at 24ORE Business School in Rome since 2013.
The encounter will take place in the Auditorium.
Free entrance until capacity reached.
