On Wednesday 24 January, at 6.30 pm, photographer Guido Gazzilli will present his latest book Home is Home (All Alone), black-and-white photographic diary accompanied by texts by journalist Stefano Ciavatta and poems by Gabriele Tinti and curated and designed by editor Fiorenza Pinna.
The project, taking its starting point from Gabriele Tinti’s poem Fauno, tells of Gazzilli’s photographic research, of the places and people he encountered, of the city of shelter.
As Gazzilli writes: “Shelter of the senses, from chaos, from urban experience. The rooms of intimacy where the street penetrates and then stays. The shelter of one’s intimacy in the jungle of human heat, the big city. Seeking shelter not elsewhere, in the ecstasy of the vastness of nature or in the impassable hermitage where nature is always a threat, but in the very hive that welcomes and nourishes nocturnal animals. In this eternal carousel I show faces, bodies, shadows, profiles of a humanity outside the moldo, searching for a respite. I do this with a private, rigorous, compact gaze.”
Home is Home (All Alone) is a fragmentary and evolving work that escapes conventional forms of construction by ironically playing with narrative structures, simulating chapter and division clues and indicating relationships between texts and images, which remain open to reinterpretation and are only ironic traces of possible readings.
